Kimberly and Family at Atlanta Tut Exhibit 2009

Easter weekend my family and I went to Atlanta to see the Tutankhamun exhibit.  Photography was not premitted inside the exhibit, but I have included one photo here of my husband, my sons’ and myself in the lobby of the civic center.  It took us about 2 hours to walk through the exhibit.  You can purchase an audio tour, narrated by Harrison Ford, which does provide additional information outside the excerpts written below each exhibit.  We purchased one device and each took turns listening.  The items were extrodinary.  They had everything from statues and canopic jars to jewelry.  It kept three teenage boys interested, so I would recommend it to anyone.  The 3D movie that accompanied the tour was very interesting as well.  It provided a different view and more indepth information than what you see every Sunday night on the latest Egypt documentary.  Believe me, I have seen them all, and between the exhibit and the movie I felt like a learned a lot of information I did not previously know.  At any rate, if you are near the Atlanta area, or within a days drive, it is definately worth checking out.  If at all possible you may want to go during the week to avoid the crowds, or at least go early.
