• The Seduction of an Unknown Lady
    by Samantha James (ISBN 978-0-06-089649-2)

Aidan McBride, after serving his country in the Punjab, resigned his commission and returned to England to recover physically and emotionally. While returning home from a visit with his brother the Duke of Gleneden, he comes upon an intriguing young woman. After insisting upon escorting her home due to the late hour, he was inexorably bewitched. He then sets out on a venture to discover all he can about the young, lovely Ms. Hawkes.

Fionna Hawkes, a young bookstore owner, is burdened with one too many secrets. Her unconventional habit of walking late in the evening brings her face to face with one undeniably handsome gentleman. She is conflicted by the interest Lord Aidan McBride has in her. Aidan’s pull on her senses is undeniable, but a future in his arms is out of the question. The nature of the secrets she conceals would destroy his family’s reputation in society and could bring an abrupt ending to her livelihood.

This Historical Romance set in mid-nineteenth century London is a must read.

I loved the characters. Aidan, Fionna and the entire cast were loveable and/or vile respectively; real people I could feel a connection to. The plot was believable and well paced; I could not put the book down until I was done. Ms. James pleases as always.
